What's this Nursery all about then?
We started
the Nursery back in April 2005, because we felt that throwing kids in to league football at the tender age of 7/8 may have
been a bit daunting to some. So having an hour a week when they can come down and train and be coached and have a good time
was the answer, we thought. We didn’t realise that it was going to be so popular, but so far it has been extremely good
fun for both the coaches and the kids.
Every year
we hold trials for Under 8 and Under 9 teams, so the aim of the Nursery kids that are in year two, is to get in to the U8
team. We don’t give any guarantees that if a child is in the Luton Nursery, they will get a place in the U8 team. That
team is picked on merit from any kids that come to trial. What we do guarantee, is that they will have had coaching and experience
in playing actual matches against other clubs, before going to trial. They will have experienced the discipline of keeping
their position on the pitch, instead of all running after the ball. They will have experienced the feeling of being part of
a team. They will learn how to win and more importantly how to lose, and do both with Grace. If after all that, they make
the team, then Mum Dad and the coaches will be very happy. In fact they’ll be ecstatic!
If not, then we hope that they will have gained from the experience and will be able to use things learnt in their
ongoing school life.
If you feel that you would like your child to join us, please contact Gordon Attwell on Tel: 01582 611944. You could just turn up on a Monday night at 5pm outside at Luton
Regional but ringing Gordon is preferable.
Kids
can join from the time they have started school up to year two.
NB. Summer
Months we play outside at Luton Regional Sports Centre on a Monday evening from 5-6pm.
During the
Winter months when we don't have the light to play outside, we play indoors at Putteridge Recreation Centre on a Wednesday
evening 5-6pm.

F.A EXPLAIN DECISION ON BANNING U8 KIDS FOOTBALL
Yeah! Right! Wouldn't that be something.
Wouldn't it be nice to read of a decision made that all the people want, rather than one that just the people in charge
want.
The Members of this club have been absolutely amazed by this decision. One member said, " I am really angry at this.
Their are so many kids around the county that just can't wait to get selected for a team and pull on their first Club shirt.
The joy on their faces when they do that is a pleasure to see for the parents and also the coaches and managers. Our club
run a Nursery with kids expecting to be put in to teams as from May of this year. They are all going to have to be told that
they will have to wait yet another year before they can do so. The heartache is going to be tremendous. I have been telling
parents and kids about this already and the first response always is WHY? I can't tell them the answer. I can only imagine
that this decision has been made by the same sort of do-gooders that ban Christmas Nativity plays in our Schools and Sports
Days events where God forbid there might be winner and a LOSER. We need to allow our kids the experience of finding
out how to lose and indeed how to win! They need to have this experience and the earlier in life the better. These decision
makers need to see the joy on the faces of kids when their team score a goal. Maybe then they would think twice
before taking their dreams away from them."
Why not E mail the FA and let them know your thoughts!!!
TRIALS
FOR NEW TEAMS
The trials
for next years Under eight teams took place in May and two new teams have been formed. Surprisingly we didn't
have enough players to hold trials for a new Under Nine team.
Mums and Dads
It is strongly recommended that
you don’t buy Bladed football boots, as they can cause knee damage to the wearer and cuts to other players. Some schools
and clubs have already banned there use. The wearing of goal keeper gloves with finger protection is also being looked in
to as they can cause crushed knuckles.
BACK OUTDOORS
We move outdoors
once again starting on Monday 17th March 2008 at Luton Regional 5-6pm. There will not be any training
the following Monday the 24th (Easter Sun).

My thanks go to Coaches Brian

MATCH REPORTS
Sat 17th March
61 FC 7 Luton Borough 0
The Borough Nursery team were well beaten by 61FC, although they played some good individual football.
All of our team bar a couple had not played in a competitive match before, so there was a lot of inexperience on show, but
they tried hard and never gave up. Support from the parents was fantastic and even Gordon was finding it hard to make himself
heard over the shouting. It would have been nice to have found the goal just once but it wasn’t to be. The boys enjoyed
their game and it will have helped them ready for the up and coming trials in May. Well done lads!!!
Squad:
James Harris, Ben Wiles, Louis Bush, Jayden Roper-Fisher, Ryan Bull, Jack Emerson, Daniel Coles, Conor Hughes,
James Barry, Alex Cowan, Danny Fountain and Sam O'Dell.
Harpenden 2 Luton Borough
1 Harpenden 4 Luton Borough 0
The nursery took 19 boys to Harpenden on Saturday
and although they lost both games they came away with their heads held high. Harpenden had about 50 kids there and it seemed
that every ten minutes a whole new team would appear against us. Tiredness came in to the equation in the thick mud, but both
Borough teams were determined to keep going to the end.
It was too frenetic to keep notes for a match report
but Jim Harris, Sonia Bentley and Gordon Attwell were very pleased with the way the boys played. It’s another match
under their belts and more experience gained.
Squad: First Match: James Barry, Thomas Willett, Danny Fountain, Ben Wiles, James Harris, Jayden Murray,
Lee Perry, Conor Hughes and Stefan Wells.
Squad: Second
Match: Alex Cowan, Lewis Weeden,Cameron Veazey, Jai Graves, Lucas Reesdale, Joshua Deacon, Scot Adams,
Craig Read, Mathew Bentley and Ethan Cox.

NURSERY BATTLE TO FIRST WIN
61FC 2
Luton Borough
3
The Nursery’s first game this season ended in success with this hard fought win over 61FC. The game
was played over four periods of ten minutes, instead of the usual 20 minutes each way. The game started with 61 doing most
of the pressing, but Luton doggedly tackled in defence and cleared the ball time and again,
and James Harris in goal stopped everything that was thrown at him. After 7 mins the pressure told when a 61 lad ran from
the half way line to score, so we went in 1-0 down at the break. In the second period, Ethan Cox equalised after
only three minutes. Luton were slowly realising that they were as good as 61 and threatened
to score a second on many occasions, but the second period ended all square and
so did the third. The last period saw Tate Sperrin run the length of the pitch to score, making it 2-1, and his reward was
to be taken off and replaced by Lee Perry, who almost immediately made it three from a pass by Joshua Deacon. Luton got a bit cocky then and everyone started to try and get forward, which left a few gaps at the back. This
was punished by a 61 shot from outside the area, which bobbled in front of James the keeper and crept over the line to make
the final score 3-2. Manager Gordon Attwell was very pleased with the performance of all the lads in their first match and
hopes it bodes well for the future.
Squad: Mathew Bentley, Ethan Cox, Joshua Deacon, Jai Graves, James Harris, Jayden Murray, Lee Perry,
Tate Sperrin, Cameron Veazey, Lewis Weeden and Stefan Wells.
